Infante's Inferno - Iron Man and Beyond ...

02:48 pm - Iron Man and Beyond ...

Previous Entry Add to Memories Tell a Friend Next Entry

OK. I was so pumped up after seeing "Iron Man" Saturday that I called [info]el3mo immediately after and left him a message to go see it, and to wait through the credits for the end. I was that jazzed.

So, OK. I didn't think it was possible, but Marvel went and made it cooler, as explained in this extremely spoilery story that's so spoilery you really don't want to click on this link if you don't want to know. No fooling.

OK. The big secret at the end of Iron Man is a cameo by Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. I squealed loudly with delight. Now, the Associated Press has let it slip that Robert Downey Jr. makes a cameo as Tony Stark in the Ed Norton "Hulk" movie.

It gets cooler ...

All of this is leading to upcoming, interconnected movies for Thor, Captain America, an Iron Man sequel, Ant-Man (yes, Ant-Man) and eventually a combined "Avengers." All with the same big leading stars throughout.

People have been saying DC should do this for years with Superman and Batman, but it all got too muddy with contracts and competing TV and film rights.

Marvel's really going to do it. Wow. Just ... Wow.

OK. I'm done fanboying now.

Fuck the AP, I found that out myself from IMDb!

I'm surprised you're just finding out about this. They've been talking about this for a while, I think. It's looking like it's becoming a reality, though.

Despite appearances, I really have better things to do than go looking for movie spoilers. Mostly, I wait until they come to me.

The reason I never got back to you is that I was on my way to the Cinerama Dome to see Iron Man.
Yep, we stayed through the credits. All of it was teh Awesome.
Which really shocked me, because I'd given up on super-hero movies.
So yea, it was a nice surprise that they didn't F' it up.

Heh. That's funny. Would have LOVED to have seen that at the Cinerama.

Marvel seems to be rectifying the "Marvel movies that suck" syndrome by starting their own studio. Fingers crossed they can keep it up through this whole "Avengers" process. (Although really, the amount of ways you can screw up what they've got coming are legion.)

for being a DC fanboy, I was really impressed. But I don't think this movie would've been as good without Robert Downey, Jr.

I still have my reservations about seeing Hulk though...I still have the taste of that Ang Lee piece of garbage in my mouth

Yes, I forget which reviewer said it first, but they summed it up nicely when they said: "HULK SUCK!!!"

I'd just about given up on Marvel. Thank you, RDJr. We love you.

This movie rocked like a rockin' thing, and I'm not even much of an Iron Man FAN.

Iron Man was a practically flawless hero flick; its makers drop some pretty obvious sequel hints too... i'm thinking the next one should be equally great

I don't know about flawless -- you take RDJr. out of it, it probably would have been a lot less compelling, and Obadiah Stane turns into a cackling supervillain pretty quickly, but yeah, I enjoyed it immensely, and am looking forward to seeing if Marvel can pull off the trick again.
